Warranty Claims Information

When you choose Palmetto Bus Sales for your new bus, we go the extra mile to assure your satisfction before, during and after the sale. As with all vehicles, there may come a time when you will need to have your new vehicle repaired under its factory warranty. This information is provided to help you understand how warranty service issues are handled and to get your bus back into service as quickly as possible

All new buses purchased from Palmetto Bus Sales are covered by both a chassis/engine warranty and the body manufacturer’s warranty. Your local chassis/engine dealer (Ford, GM, Cummins, etc.) will take care of the chassis and engine warranty. Body warranty issues are handled in our facilities or at an authorized facility near your location.

Our Role in the Warranty Process

Each manufacturer we represent has its own warranty and the terms of that warranty are in the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Warranty Certificate you were given at the time you purchased your new bus. Our role is to assist with these warranty issues.

Your warranty is intended to cover reasonable costs for repairing your bus when parts fail within the designated warranty period. Parts are covered as long as you have followed all the maintenance procedures outlined in the Owner's Manual and if they failed within the designated warranty period. The warranty does not cover routine maintenance or parts that may fail after the warranty expires. If you have any questions, please call us Toll Free 1-800-783-7613 and ask for the Warranty Office.

Procedures for Filing a Warranty Claim

If you experience a problem with your new bus, we will take the necessary steps to see that it is repaired by the responsible party and supply any parts needed to fix the bus. With proper communication, we can arrange the warranty repair with the selected service center and get you reimbursed for the pre-approved amount in a timely manner. You must receive an approval number before any warranty repairs are made.

If you need to make a warranty claim, please follow these steps:

Call us  at 803-754-3827for assistance. We will need the date of purchase, body number, mileage, cause of problem and approximate repair cost when you call us. Please have that information available before contacting us.

You may file a warranty claim using several, convenient methods:

Once you have spoken with our Warranty Office you will take one of the following actions:

  • If you have a chassis or engine problem, you will take your bus to the nearest authorized repair facility for the manufacturer of your chassis or engine.
  • In the event of a body problem, we may ask you to return the bus to our service facility or take it to another authorized warranty service facility in your area.
  • In some situations, you may be given authorization to repair the bus in your own facility with parts provided by the Original Equipment Manufactuter. If this option is authorized and you have have received replacement part(s) from Palmetto Bus Sales, you may perform the required repair.

When the repair is complete, return the failed part along with your completed repair invoice to Palmetto Bus Sales. Prior to sending the invoice, please be sure it contains the following information: body number, mileage, complaint, cause of failure and correction. Upon receipt of the failed part and repair invoice, Palmetto Bus Sales will credit your account for the cost of the failed part(s) and file a claim with the manufacturer to obtain additional credit for any approved labor costs incurred.
